2015 Chardonnay, Vintners Select, Napa Valley
"A big Chardonnay. this wine embodies many facets of a buttery chardonnay while maintaining a moderately high level of acids. aromas of honeysuckle, seasoned oak and vanilla on the nose. the many layers of flavor in this wine are fascinating. plenty of fruit, lots of rich notes. a dazzler of the senses"
"The 2015 vintage reflects our tireless dedication to create stunning wines amidst a challenging growing season. An unusually warm spring led to early budbreak and rapid vine growth, but upon bloom, the weather turned cool and foggy which slowed development and forced a small fruit set. Summer arrived with considerable heat, propelling the grapes into early and intense flavor concentration. Ripening was then slowed by spells of unusually low temperatures. These fits and starts demanded constant readiness and precision in all our farming practices. Our team patiently and carefully walked row by row, watching for peak ripeness in each block"
"After harvesting at night we brought the fruit back to the winery and destemmed into vats giving 1 hour of skin contact before delicately pressing out the juice. The juice was chilled and the sediment settled before racking to barrels for fermentation. We hand selected 5 premium, new French oak barrels from different coopers with varying toast, one new American oak barrel and one used french oak barrel to ferment and age in. After fermenting for 31 Days, we aged the wine on its lees, stirring occasionally, for 14 months while the wine completed malic to lactic acid conversion"
