2016 Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley
Apricot blossoms on the nose, green apple, melon and smith mineralogy
The fruit for this Pinot Gris came from the Willamette Valley in Oregon. It showed good complexity so we ran a little further with the flavors than the average wine of its variety. Still crisp and light, it embodies a more new age Pinot Gris.
"apricot blossoms fill the nose while flavors of green apple and tart melon dance on the pallet with a smooth minerality and fresh grassiness
"the 2016 season was excellent in every way. slightly early bud break with moderate temperatures through the summer led to a great September harvest. cool temperatures followed harvest and brought a nice breeze to the winery during fermentation"
Picked during the cool of the night, we went straight to press, lightly extracting juice from the delicate berries. chilled to settle out sediment for several days before racking and fermenting the beautiful clear juice in stainless steel, at 50 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 days
